Our 2016-2017 Campus Renewal

Rock Spring has made the commitment to "rejoice, renew, re-imagine" our campus by renovating the narthex, Neighborhood House, and administrative areas, as well as purchasing a new sound system and Reuter pipe organ.

UPDATE (8-17-2016)!!!
The first stage of installation will be complete by Saturday 8/27 evening, and the Sanctuary will be available for the Sunday 8/28 morning service. The rest of the truck will be unloaded immediately after the Sunday 8/28 service. This is when we will invite everyone (kids, too) to help continue unloading the truck. After that, the installation will continue. Basic installation will be complete by Thursday so they can get the truck back to Kansas before the Labor Day weekend.

On Tuesday 8/6 they will finish any details and begin voicing. The organ should be "ready to play" sometime around the middle of September.

It's a really beautiful instrument. See the pictures to the left.
- The first picture is what you'll see from the sanctuary when it's completed.
- The second picture is the console.
- The third picture is the really beautiful Tromba (a rich, choral reed pipe) in the testing room. The largest pipes are made of copper for strength. There are a couple of especially interesting and excellent things about these pipes (like the little boxes that look like bird houses at the bottom of the big pipes). If you're interested, ask Ed about them.
- The fourth picture shows the "innards" with some of the pipes in place. You can see the Great division on the left and the Swell division on the right. That's what will be behind the screens in front of the sanctuary.

How do our internal preferences influence the way we operate in the outside world?

by Laura Martin

The reality is that I too have

Authored your pain.

I laid a blank piece of paper down

When you needed me to respond.

I chose the shortcut.

I learned complicity,

Learned to move quietly in my privilege,

Learned to let the doors open for me

Before walked inside.

I inherited fear

And did not unlearn it.

In fight or flight, I flew.

I confess all this.

And I commit to hearing

The raw stories,

To letting your vulnerability

Chafe me.
