The Green Team!
Rock Spring’s eco-justice work is led by a “green team” of church members working with the Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions to plan and carry out our mission. The team was formed in late summer 2016 and have conference calls approximately every two months to strategize and plan actions. The group has focused on individuals moving to green power through Dominion Green in order to reduce our carbon footprint. For information on how to change your own power, take a look at these slides (attach).

The Church Is Powered By Green
Starting in September, 2016, the church made the move to green power. That means that all the church’s electricity is generated by wind, solar, biomass, or other clean energy. This move came about as the Property Board learned about the Dominion Green program and the benefits of making the change. Green energy aligns with our values and commitments.

The reality is that I too have

Authored your pain.

I laid a blank piece of paper down

When you needed me to respond.

I chose the shortcut.

I learned complicity,

Learned to move quietly in my privilege,

Learned to let the doors open for me

Before walked inside.

I inherited fear

And did not unlearn it.

In fight or flight, I flew.

I confess all this.

And I commit to hearing

The raw stories,

To letting your vulnerability

Chafe me.
