Maundy Thursday: Dinner with Jesus

Date:
April 13, 2017 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Location:
Carpenter Hall

The word “Maundy” is derived from the Latin word for “command,” and refers to Jesus’ commandment to the disciples to “Love one another as I have loved you.” The celebration of Maundy Thursday commemorates The Last Supper which is associated with the Christian sacrament of communion. Do you ever wonder what it was like on the night of the Last Supper? We have some details shared in the Bible, but have you wondered what those we haven’t heard from were thinking and feeling? Join us on Maundy Thursday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Carpenter Hall. We will gather for “dinner with Jesus” and hear from some of the people who were there that night so many years ago. The meal and worship experience will be engaging for Rock Springers of all ages.

The reality is that I too have

Authored your pain.

I laid a blank piece of paper down

When you needed me to respond.

I chose the shortcut.

I learned complicity,

Learned to move quietly in my privilege,

Learned to let the doors open for me

Before walked inside.

I inherited fear

And did not unlearn it.

In fight or flight, I flew.

I confess all this.

And I commit to hearing

The raw stories,

To letting your vulnerability

Chafe me.
