Faith + Life: Bible Basics
Everyone knows that the Gospel of Thomas was written even earlier than other books included in the New Testament. Or do they? It’s true most of the Christian writings from the first 200 years are copies of copies of copies, except for 2 scraps of manuscripts dating from the first hundred years after Jesus died. They are from the Gospel of John and the Gospel of Thomas. This month, Bible Basics explores the Gospel of Thomas. - October 1 at 10:00 a.m.
Join Janice Langholz to explore the context of Christianity’s development, both through the books we know currently as the New Testament and others that were left out. What would it mean for our Christian faith if we read the Gospel of Mary (Magdalene) as opposed to the Gospel of Luke? Or if our Scripture included The Gospel of Truth, or the Gospel of Thomas, instead of, or in addition to, the Gospels of Matthew or John?
