Vicki Morales

I am originally from the Dominican Republic and after living for a while in New York City I moved to Fairfax, Virginia where I currently live with my husband Daniel, daughter Jennifer and son Michael.

My full-time job is at Jeb Stuart High School where I work along side Willis Gardner. I have worked at Rock Spring for approximately 9 years, also with Willis Gardner, where I take care of the buildings and set up for meetings and events.

When I am not working at Jeb Stuart or Rock Spring I am attending church or at home
relaxing! I like to ride with my husband on his motorcycle and go on vacations with my son Michael.

The reality is that I too have

Authored your pain.

I laid a blank piece of paper down

When you needed me to respond.

I chose the shortcut.

I learned complicity,

Learned to move quietly in my privilege,

Learned to let the doors open for me

Before walked inside.

I inherited fear

And did not unlearn it.

In fight or flight, I flew.

I confess all this.

And I commit to hearing

The raw stories,

To letting your vulnerability

Chafe me.
